Don’t expect your computer to work in this Russian village!

There’s a village in eastern Russia that (according to the Daily Mail) is the coldest on earth, with a measured daytime temperature of a jaw dropping – 70 degrees C.  And its not just your phone that won’t work, but apparently it can take up to three days to dig a grave and locals live off the local animals as (obviously) nothing grows.

Oymyakon is the name of the village apart from the sparse and topsy turvy power supply most electronic devices will not work, or certainly outdoors because of the chemical properties of batteries meaning the molecules in the battery will not be able to move around and thus produce a current, and thus charge. Inside a house its probably warmer, but with the lack of an Internet feed to Oymyakon, the only way to secure any sort of Internet connection would be via one of the russian military comms sats, but I doubt Mr Putin would allow that.

Need proof, check out the Daily Mail link
