Nope, its not April 1st. Most of us know that a person’s health can be checked when we go to the doctors by a quick sample check of the yellow stuff we supply. Anything from diabetes, urinary tract infection and pre-clampsia to name just a few.
Now, indian-based company, Biosense Technologies Private Limited, has developed an iPhone App called uChek with the aim of using the iPhone’s built-in camera to photograph a freshly dipped ‘reagent strip’, specific colours produced from the freshly dipped strip is interpreted by the iPhone’s camera and the uChek App, as identifying issues in the supplied ‘sample’ or just a clean bill of health!
The best thing is that anyone can use it, without the need for medical experience. Urinalysis (Urine Analysis) is one of the most common methods of urine diagnosis. This can be used to measure a range of parameters – physical as well as chemical composition. A part of a urinalysis can be performed by using urine test strips, also known as dipsticks, in which the test results can be read as color changes. These can be used to identify presence (or absence) of several characteristics & pathological changes and consequently detect several medical conditions. A standard urine test strip may comprise up to 10 different chemical pads or reagents which react and hence change color when immersed in, and then removed from, a urine sample. The readings can be obtained between 60 and 120 seconds of dipping and the developers say its over 95% accurate, more than conventional urinalysis.
No medical experience is needed, just collect the sample, dip a stick, align with the supplied colour coding and just take a snap for instant results. Strangely, you can even share your results with other like-minded uChek fans!
So, why not save time in going to the Doctor’s and waiting ages for the results, invest in the soon to be released uCheck for iPhone
